File Hosting: The Easy Way To Share Files Online

Author: Martin Brinkmann

One of the primary obstacles to working on the internet has always been figuring out how to send files back and forth between people. Even in today's world of ultra high speed connections, sometimes a file is just too unwieldy or large to send multiple times. And there are many circumstances where you'll want a whole department or other group of people to be able to get access to the files.

Well when you are working with file hosting providers like Rapidshare, Megaupload or SendIt, then it isn't a problem for much longer.

Those File Hosting providers provide an easy quick environment from which users can share their files with anyone they choose. The websites offer free services that are available to everyone, and allow for uploading multiple files at the same time. Though file size limitations exist their are usually 200 MB or more which should not be a problem for most Internet users. They do support uploading split archives and compressed files as well if a file should be larger than 200 Megabyte.

The free services are robust in and of itself, offering multiple options for sending download links to the parties the user wants, and promising the security and confidentiality of the downloads. By assigning a unique file id and download link to each one, working with file hosting makes certain that your files are only downloaded by the people that you want.

The websites also offer premium upgrade accounts that cost a small fee. But the benefits of upgrading can sometimes be more than worth the financial cost. The first thing, is that upgrading to premium accounts allow users to access Reward programs where points are awarded for every time someone downloads one of the users files.

These reward points can be used to pay to extend the premium membership, or redeemed for many other purposes from the main websites. There are many other benefits to working with file hosting sites from a premium membership though. Premium members can upload files that are a lot larger than those that free users can upload and their are usually also receiving personal webspace at the file hosting sites.

The downloads are usually much faster for users with an enhanced membership, most of the time five or even ten times as fast as the maximum download speed of free users of the services. Another benefit is the possibility to resume downloads. This means that premium users can resume a download if the connection should be interrupted.

Working with file hosts can improve the utility of having workers who telecommute on a project. By making it easier and faster to share files and information with an entire group of people at once, it lowers the potentially terrible consequences of miscommunication or sending out the wrong copies of files.
